New England has won seven consecutive games to take the AFC lead coming into their bye week after a 2-5 start.
The Patriots beat the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football thanks to a weird three-pass effort by Jones, who carried the ball over and again on a chilly, windy evening.
Regardless, we’ve arrived. The Patriots sit atop the AFC East and the AFC as a whole in the middle of December, due to an incredible turnaround as Belichick stakes his claim in the Coach of the Year campaign.
New England now has a 9-4 record and a two-game lead over the Bills as they prepare for the closing stretch of the season.
What Can Tom Brady Do to Help the Patriots Go Closer to Winning the AFC East?
That is an excellent question.
This weekend in Florida, the Buccaneers take on the Buffalo Bills. That’s how it works.
To go further, Brady has shredded the Bills throughout his career. His regular-season record versus Buffalo is 32-3, demonstrating why he is one of the finest players to ever walk onto a football field.
The Bills are going through some weird problems. Buffalo has lost three of its last five games, falling behind the Patriots in the rankings after opening the season 5-4.
A defeat against the Buccaneers on Sunday would put Buffalo farther behind New England in the AFC East and maybe eliminate them from contention for the AFC Wild Card. Josh Allen’s team is currently holding on to the seventh seed in the AFC, which is excellent for the last Wild Card slot.
Buffalo’s situation is made more difficult by the fact that they must still play the Patriots the day after Christmas – at Gilette Stadium.
On the other hand, a win brings Buffalo within striking distance of the Patriots, making the game more more important.
Regardless, Belichick and the Patriots will secretly hope for Brady and the Buccaneers to defeat the Bills and move New England closer to clinching the AFC East for the 12th time in the previous 13 seasons.
That is the definition of supremacy.

The Bills dominated the AFC East a year ago. Believe it or not, the Miami Dolphins came in second place behind the Buffalo Bills. With Cam Newton as quarterback, the Patriots struggled to a 7-9 record after winning the division for 11 years in a row.
Things have changed dramatically in the last year. Jones has had a fantastic rookie season, and Josh McDaniels continues to run a fantastic offense. New England’s defense, on the other hand, has been their calling card.
The Patriots lead the NFL in points allowed per game (15.4), sacks (32), and interceptions (four) (19). That’s a winning formula, and Matthew Judon’s big-money signing has paid off handsomely.
New England has regained control of the AFC East, and with games against the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets in the remaining two weeks of the season, an AFC East title — and a first-round bye — seems to be within reach for Belichick and the Patriots.
